The Benefits of Yoga

People come to yoga for many different reasons - doctors’ recommendation after injury or surgery, for relaxation or perhaps for spiritual reasons. Yoga can help with all of the above with some of the key benefits of a regular practice being:

Physical wellbeing

  • Keeps the body supple and mobile
  • Improved flexibility
  • Improved strength
  • Improved posture, and helps with spinal alignment
  • Strengthens the back and core muscles

Mental wellbeing

  • Breath awareness and control
  • Can aid in dealing with stress and anxiety
  • Can be both calming or energising depending on the practice
  • Teaches a number of relaxation techniques

Spiritual wellbeing

  • Removes energy blockages
  • Can lead to further understanding of yoga philosophy
  • Meeting like minded people in a relaxed environment
  • Can lead to a whole new way of life (it did for me!)
